Since the mid 70’s, this family company started growing chrysanthemums. Today this company is being run by two brothers: Arjan and Richard van der Voort. Their two greenhouses of 3.6 acres is located in Honselersdijk. Here they grow about 10 million stems of chrysanthemums a year. Because of their experience in cultivation, their chrysanthemum is of the highest quality. Voort Chrysanten grows beautiful chrysanthemums, the whole year round. Range of flowers
Voort Chrysanten grows a wide variety of chrysanthemums, but this week we focus on their PIP range. This range consists of disbudded chrysanthemums. Disbudded? These are large flowered chrysanthemums. When the plant is young, all the sidebuds (flowers) are removed. By doing this, all the energy from the root goes to the one flower at the top. This creates a huge (disbudded) flower that can be about 7 to 9 cm in diameter. In the PIP Chrysanthemum you can see dark stripes in the petals. This gives the flower an exclusive character. PIP chrysanthemums are available in pink, salmon, light pink, purple, red, and orange. The Chrysanthemum PIP is grown only at Voort Chrysanten.
Friendly for the environment
Voort Chrysanten’s awareness of the environment means that they work with MPS Certification. They are also Clobal Gap certified. MPS encourages corporate social responsibility and sustainable production in the international horticulture sector. This incorporates as follows. Registration of and having monitored fertilizers, energy, and water streams. They use (eco-friendly) pesticides and they re-use their water supply. Also their roofs are full of solar panels to generate their own electricity.
